Discover Three Iconic Kenyan Safari Regions
This six day journey brings together Kenya's famous Masai Mara, the Rift Valley lakeside scenery of Naivasha and the elephant landscapes of Amboseli. With two nights in the Mara, one night in Naivasha and two nights in Amboseli, the route allows meaningful game viewing in two different wildlife settings. The itinerary is designed as a road safari with a professional driver guide, while recognising that the transfer between Naivasha and Amboseli takes a substantial part of Day Four.
Two Nights in the Masai Mara
Spend your first two nights in the Masai Mara region, where open grasslands, scattered acacia trees and riverine habitats support a wide range of wildlife. Arrive from Nairobi on the first day and enjoy an afternoon game drive if time allows. The second day is reserved for more extended wildlife viewing, with a picnic lunch option that gives you greater flexibility in the field. Look for lions, cheetahs, elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, antelopes and other wildlife. Seasonal migration movements may occur at particular times, but no river crossing or animal sighting is guaranteed.
A Different Pace at Lake Naivasha
After the Mara, travel to Lake Naivasha for a one night lakeside stop. The freshwater lake and its surrounding landscapes provide an appealing change of pace after two days of game viewing. Birdwatching, views across the water and relaxation at your accommodation are possible activities. A boat safari, or a supervised visit to Crescent Island where offered by approved operators, can be added as an optional experience. Such activities must be arranged with safety, weather and operator availability in mind.
Two Nights in Amboseli Elephant Country
The journey then continues to Amboseli, where open plains and wetlands create opportunities to observe elephant herds and other wildlife. Your first day in the region is mainly a long transfer, so any evening game drive depends on arrival time. Day Five is the main Amboseli wildlife day, with the possibility of exploring different habitats at suitable times. Mount Kilimanjaro may be visible from the Kenyan side when clouds and weather cooperate, but the peak is never guaranteed to be clear.
Flexible Accommodation Without Separate Packages
GoPatooh can discuss Budget and Mid-range accommodation for this safari route, depending on actual room availability and your preferences. These are accommodation options attached to the same master safari, not separate duplicate tour packages. We will confirm the hotel or camp, sleeping arrangements, meal plans and transportation details during itinerary finalisation. A specific lodge appearing in an older itinerary should never be assumed booked or available.
Best Time and Safari Interests
The Masai Mara and Amboseli offer wildlife viewing through much of the year, but the experience changes with rainfall, vegetation, animal movement and the condition of access roads. Dry seasons may make some animals easier to spot in particular habitats. Green seasons can be attractive for landscape photography and birdlife. A migration focused variation may be planned for suitable months, but must be based on current seasonal conditions and cannot promise a river crossing.
Thoughtful Planning for Transfers and Activities
Travellers should be prepared for several hours of road travel, especially on the journey from Naivasha to Amboseli. We will set realistic pick up times and discuss the impact of arrival flights, children in the group, preferred game drive hours and mobility needs. Optional activities, park fees and any cultural visits will be clearly identified in the final written quotation. The main purpose of this master route is a memorable and manageable wildlife journey rather than an unrealistic schedule of activities.
