Depart Nairobi after meeting your driver guide at the agreed collection point. Travel through the changing countryside of the Great Rift Valley, with planned stops to rest and appreciate the landscape. Continue toward the Masai Mara, where open grassland and scattered trees begin to dominate the views. Check into your approved camp when you arrive and settle in before the day’s first wildlife outing, if daylight and reserve regulations allow. Your guide will introduce the rules of responsible game viewing and explain how the ecosystem supports grazers and predators. Return to the camp for your first night in the Mara. A delayed departure may mean postponing the game drive rather than rushing.

From classic wildlife country to the Indian Ocean
This nine day journey is designed for travellers who would like to see more than one side of Kenya. It begins on the open plains of the Masai Mara, continues through the Rift Valley at Lake Nakuru and Lake Naivasha, and then reaches Amboseli in the south. A coastal extension in Mombasa brings a contrasting finish, with time to unwind beside the Indian Ocean. These are separate environments with different wildlife habitats, travel conditions and daily rhythms. The route prioritises a balanced sequence rather than presenting every optional activity as something that can be guaranteed in a single holiday.
Wildlife and landscapes along the route
In the Masai Mara, guided game drives provide opportunities to watch grazing herds, predators and birds across broad grasslands and river habitats. Lake Nakuru introduces rhino country, wooded areas and waterbirds whose numbers vary with conditions. At Lake Naivasha, freshwater scenery and birdlife offer a gentler change of pace; a boat trip or Crescent Island walk can be requested if time and permissions allow. Amboseli is well known for elephant encounters and the possibility of seeing Mount Kilimanjaro on a clear day. Animal sightings remain unpredictable because wildlife moves freely in its natural habitat.
Travel between safari parks and the coast
This is a multi-stop journey with several significant transfer days. Travel between the Masai Mara, Nakuru, Naivasha and Amboseli happens by road. The coastal connection follows the source route through Nairobi for a scheduled train to Mombasa, with onward road transfer to accommodation. A second train journey brings guests back to Nairobi at the end. Actual railway departure times, vehicle connections and arrival arrangements need to be checked for the selected travel dates. We will not promise a particular departure, a short drive or a same-day international flight connection before those details are verified.
Your beach stay in Mombasa
After the wildlife circuit, allow yourself time to enjoy a quieter pace on the coast. Depending on the confirmed hotel location, the beach days can include swimming where conditions permit, relaxed shoreline walks, coastal food and time at the resort. Optional cultural visits, guided town activities, water sports or nature excursions should be requested separately and must be reviewed for safety, fees and availability. A coastal holiday need not be packed with activities to be rewarding. It can simply provide space to rest after early safari starts and long journeys while experiencing a different part of Kenya.
How GoPatooh adapts this master safari
The same route can be suitable for several traveller interests without creating a second package record. Wildlife enthusiasts may choose more unhurried time on game drives, families can ask for sensible rest breaks and a comfortable pace, and photographers may prioritise early or late light where the programme permits. Accommodation quality is an independent selection and should not determine the category of safari. Group participation, meals, park entries, rail tickets and hotels are only included once confirmed in the written itinerary and quotation. Prices are intentionally not published here.

The day's experience
Spend the day exploring the Masai Mara with a knowledgeable driver guide and time to observe wildlife without hurrying between sightings. Depending on the agreed plan, enjoy an extended game drive with a picnic lunch and stops at appropriate locations. The reserve supports antelopes, zebras, elephants, buffaloes, lions and other animals, although none can be promised. Your guide may explore different habitats, including open plains and riverine areas, according to conditions and permitted access. Travellers interested in photography can spend more time studying animal behaviour and changing light. Return to camp by evening for dinner and a second overnight stay. Optional balloon experiences are separate arrangements.

The day's experience
After breakfast, leave the Masai Mara and travel toward the central Rift Valley. The road journey takes much of the day, so rest stops and the arrival plan should be realistic. On reaching Nakuru, check into your accommodation and proceed for a game drive if sufficient time remains. Lake Nakuru National Park is known for both black and white rhino conservation, lake scenery, grazing wildlife and birdlife. Your guide can explain how fluctuating lake conditions influence the birds that visitors may encounter. Flamingo concentrations change and should never be advertised as guaranteed. Settle into your accommodation for the night, reflecting on the contrasting wildlife habitats between the Mara and Nakuru.

The day's experience
Enjoy breakfast and travel from Nakuru to the freshwater setting of Lake Naivasha. With the shorter transfer compared with earlier days, there may be time to enjoy the grounds of your confirmed lakeside accommodation or explore approved activities. A boat safari offers potential sightings of hippos from a safe distance and many waterbirds, while Crescent Island can provide a guided walk if arranged separately. These excursions are optional and depend on local operators, weather, safety and the final itinerary. Do not approach hippos on land or enter the lake without qualified guidance. Relax in the late afternoon before dinner and the overnight stay near Naivasha.

The day's experience
Leave Naivasha after breakfast and travel south toward Amboseli, with the route commonly passing through or around Nairobi depending on conditions. This is a long transfer day, and the final itinerary will set an achievable arrival window rather than promising an extensive game drive. Observe the changing scenery as the open plains of southern Kenya come into view. If the weather is clear, Mount Kilimanjaro may appear on the horizon, creating a memorable introduction to the Amboseli landscape. Check into your accommodation and use the evening to rest and prepare for the next day’s wildlife outing. A game drive is not assumed on this transfer day.

The day's experience
Dedicate the day to guided wildlife viewing within Amboseli National Park, known for its elephant families, marsh habitats and sweeping plains. Your guide may focus on different viewing areas as animal movement, weather and park access permit. The wetlands attract birds and other wildlife, while clear skies sometimes reveal Mount Kilimanjaro beyond the plains. Consider an early start for comfortable temperatures and appealing natural light, then agree suitable breaks and meals. Never crowd elephants or leave designated routes to obtain a photograph. The aim is to appreciate the park’s ecological diversity rather than chase a checklist of sightings. Return for the second overnight stay at your Amboseli accommodation.

The day's experience
After an early breakfast, check out and travel toward Nairobi for the scheduled rail connection to Mombasa. The road transfer from Amboseli, station check-in time and train schedule must all be verified before confirming this arrangement; it is not realistic to promise a specific departure without confirmed tickets. The railway journey changes the scenery from inland plains to warmer coastal landscapes. Once at the Mombasa terminus, meet the onward transfer vehicle and continue to your approved beach accommodation. Settle in, enjoy the sea air and allow time to rest after the long travel day. Overnight in the Mombasa area. The exact rail service, station transfer and meals require written confirmation.

The day's experience
Wake to the atmosphere of the Kenyan coast and enjoy a relaxed day near the beach. With the safari’s longer road journeys behind you, the focus shifts to rest, seaside walks and time at the accommodation’s facilities. Swimming should follow local safety advice, tides and beach conditions. Travellers who want more activity can ask about optional cultural visits, marine excursions, coastal nature outings or water sports offered by properly licensed providers. Any such add-on must be confirmed separately, and wildlife or dolphin sightings at sea are never guaranteed. Enjoy an unhurried afternoon and second overnight stay in the Mombasa beach area. Meals depend on the chosen hotel plan.

The day's experience
Enjoy a final coastal morning before checking out and transferring to the railway station for the planned return to Nairobi. The train provides an opportunity to reflect on how varied the landscapes have been during the journey, from Masai Mara grasslands to the coast. Scheduled services, train ticket availability and connection times must be checked before the trip is sold. On arrival in Nairobi, arrange transfer to the agreed endpoint, which may be an airport or hotel. Do not plan a tight international connection without considering rail schedules and local traffic. This final day has no accommodation included. Additional nights in Nairobi can be discussed as a separate request.
